On the island of Madagascar there are animals that not only in Africa but throughout the rest of the world. One of the rarest animal is the fossa is the only representative of the genus Cryptoprocta and the largest carnivorous mammal living on the island of Madagascar. The appearance of the fossa is a little unusual: it’s a cross between a civet cat and a small Puma. Sometimes called fossa and Malagasy lion, as the ancestors of this animal was much larger and had reached the size of a lion. Fossa has a squat, massive and slightly elongated torso, the length of which can reach up to 80 cm (on average it is 65-70 cm). Paws at the fossa is long, but quite thick, and hind legs higher than the front. The tail is often equal to the length of the body and reaches up to 65 cm
